Reeves County Junior Livestock Show and Sale Releases Full Schedule for January Event

The Reeves County Junior Livestock Show and Sale (RCJLS) has officially announced its complete schedule for the upcoming 2026 show week, promising several days of hard work, competition, and community support for local youth exhibitors.

Preparations for the annual event begin Monday, January 12, with pen and show ring setup starting at 5:15 p.m. Organizers note that setup will continue Tuesday if needed, ensuring the grounds are fully prepared for the week’s activities.

The show officially ramps up on Wednesday, January 14, beginning with backdrop photography for exhibitors. Cattle photos will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., followed by lamb and goat photos from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Weigh-ins, back number pickup, and herdsman binder submissions are scheduled from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. A junior committee backdrop photo will be taken at 6:20 p.m., with additional backdrop photos for pigs, lambs, and goats resuming at 6:30 p.m. Exhibitors and families can also enjoy “Pizza Night,” as the Balmorhea FFA Concession Stand will be open throughout the evening.

Thursday, January 15, will feature livestock competition, beginning with heifer weigh-ins at 2:00 p.m. The cattle show will follow at 3:00 p.m., along with the lamb and goat shows, showcasing months of dedication and preparation by Reeves County youth.

The pig show is scheduled for Friday, January 16, at 3:00 p.m., followed by the popular Round Robin Showmanship contest, which highlights top exhibitors across multiple species.

Saturday, January 17, marks one of the most anticipated days of the week. Show ring tear down and herdsman interviews will begin at 10:00 a.m. That evening, the focus shifts to the sale, with the Buyer’s Club check-in and cocktail hour set for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The sale room will open to exhibitors and the public at 6:30 p.m., with the Reeves County Junior Livestock Show and Sale officially beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Balmorhea FFA Concession Stand will again be open for attendees.

The event will conclude Sunday, January 18, with final tear down and cleanup starting at 9:00 a.m., bringing the week to a close.
