The spirit of gratitude and unity filled the air today as the Reeves County Veterans Service Office hosted its Veterans Day Cookout Celebration at 510 S. Oak Street in Pecos. Veterans, families, and community members gathered to honor the men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces.
“Today is about honoring every veteran, those who served in war and peace, those who came home, and those who never did,” said Reeves County Digital Media Director Daniel Alvarado. “We want every veteran in Reeves County to know we’re here for them, no matter their circumstances. This community will always have their back.” The cookout was more than a meal; it was a moment of connection. Veterans from multiple generations, from World War II to recent conflicts, gathered side by side, swapping memories, laughter, and friendship. The event underscored Reeves County’s ongoing commitment to serving those who once served the nation.
Community members, county officials, and volunteers joined in, helping serve food, sharing tributes, and ensuring that every veteran felt seen, heard, and appreciated. “It was an honor to stand among our heroes today,” said Alvarado. “This celebration reminded us that freedom isn’t free, it’s paid for by the courage and sacrifice of those who answered the call.”
The Reeves County Veterans Service Office continues to serve as a lifeline for local veterans and their families, assisting with VA benefits, records, claims, and access to vital services. Beyond paperwork and procedures, the office provides fellowship, compassion, and unwavering support to all who have served. “We are always here to help any veteran, no matter the circumstances,” Alvarado emphasized. “That’s our mission every single day.”
Veterans Day 2025 will be remembered not just as a day of remembrance but as a celebration of service, honor, and hope.
